The first XRAY Off-road Challenge in South Korea was scheduled on a weekend of April 16 at the Banwol Park racing track in Kyunggido. Since the official South Korean national championship will take place the next weekend, the XRAY Challenge was a great event for all the best Korean drivers to participate and enjoy some racing.

Despite there being some other off-road races at the same time at other tracks, this event attracted all the best Korean top drivers and with the line up of strong drivers all the other drivers attended this race to compete against the best; in total almost 50 drivers entered this race. We could see all the factory teams at this race, including team XRAY, Hobao, GS, Kyosho, so the competition was very close to a national race.

The race venue was standard format. After 3 qualifiers, drivers raced in a semi final and bumped up to the final. The final race was run according to KMRCA rules.

Team XRAY driver 'Byung Hun Choi' was on the leading pace for all the qualifiers and the final, showcasing the performance of the new XB8-TQ against all other factory team drivers, qualifying second for the final.

Another of XRAY's top Korean drivers was driving excellently in the qualifiers and semi-final too, unfortunately his engine stopped in the semi-final, and did not qualify for the final. At the end three XRAY XB8-TQs qualified for the final race among all other top Korean drivers from other factory teams, so there was some high competition and exciting racing expected in the final race.

After the start of the final, Mr. Choi lept into the lead very quickly and lead the race for a long time. Unfortunately he experienced an engine stoppage which put him behind the leaders. With excellent driving style and easy-to-drive handling of his car, Choi was able to drive through the crowd and get back to the lead position again but luck was not with Choi at this race; his engine stopped another two times! At the end Choi was able – despite his engine trouble – to finish on the podium in 2nd place.

JinHo Trade, XRAY's distributor for South Korea, prepared a great ceremony with very nice prizes, as well as a great lottery for lucky winners, making the event even more attractive for all participants. Many lucky drivers who did not have the luck in the race during the day had luck in the lottery and left home with brand new M18T truck kit.
